Choosing and Exercise Bike -
The variety of currently available exercise bikes range from those that offer higher resistance for lower-body conditioning, while others are easier on your joints while others still give in depth information on your heart rate and calories being used.

Generally speaking, Exercise bikes are grouped in one of the following 4 categories:

Uprights: Essentially your normal outdoor bike. You sit on a normal bike seat while you pedal. Many lower priced bikes are in this category.

Recumbents: Similar to outdoor recumbents, these bikes position the rider much lower, and parallel to the ground. The pedals are placed in the front, so you don’t bend your legs to the same extent. This often provides an advantage for cross country runners. Additionally, they offer great back support for increased comfort. Those with back or knee problems often choose this type of bike.

Semi-Recumbents: This type have an inclined seat placed higher than full on recumbent models. Elder users typically prefer this type, as they are easier to mount and dismount.

Dual Action: Generally for more advanced users, these are great for an intense whole-body workout. With movable handlebars,  dual action bikes work your arms as hard as your legs.

Just remember, whatever your build or weight, most exercise bikes are easily adjustable. However, many bikes also have weight and size limitations so its always best to ask as many questions as possible before purchasing an exercise bike, especially online.
